AIF-C01 practice question: Choosing FMs and inference parameters (4 of 4)

An engineering firm wants a foundation model that can answer questions about scanned site diagrams and long technical specifications that are hundreds of pages each. Which TWO selection criteria matter MOST for this use case? (Choose two.)
Choose two answers.
- AA. The model accepts image input as well as text
- BB. The model has the largest number of parameters available
- CC. The model's context window can hold long documents
- DD. The model was released most recently
- EE. The model is the one most discussed online

Answers: A, C
- A. Right: Correct. The diagrams are images, so the model must be multimodal, or it cannot read them.
- B. Wrong: Size alone does not guarantee a fit. A larger model may cost more and be slower without meeting the actual requirements.
- C. Right: Correct. Long specifications need a large context window, or the relevant text must be split and retrieved.
- D. Wrong: Release date says nothing about whether the model handles images or long inputs.
- E. Wrong: Popularity is not a selection criterion. Capabilities, cost, latency and compliance are.
Explanation
Choose a foundation model by matching its capabilities to the task: input and output modalities, context window length, accuracy for the domain, latency, cost, customisation options, language support and compliance needs. The newest or largest model is not automatically the right choice.
